Bara: The local administration of Bara district and representatives of the Gen Z movement have agreed to conduct a fair investigation into the recent Simara incident. The agreement was reached during talks held on Friday at the Armed Police Force’s Technical Training Institute in Pathlaiya, Bara.

Chief District Officer (CDO) Dharmendra Kumar Mishra stated that both sides committed to ensuring the safety of Gen Z youths, coordinating treatment for those injured in the Simara skirmish, and initiating an impartial investigation into the clash.

Representing the Gen Z side were Sudan Gurung, Purushottam Yadav, and Samrat Upadhay, along with Simara Sub-Metropolitan Mayor Rajan Paudel. The CDO and chiefs of various district security agencies took part in the dialogue from the administration’s side.

Simara had witnessed escalating tension on Wednesday following a clash between UML cadres and Gen Z youths. “Three individuals have been taken into custody based on complaints filed by the Gen Z group,” CDO Mishra confirmed.

Bara district remained tense for two consecutive days, forcing the local administration to impose curfews on Wednesday and Thursday.

Gen Z activists had accused CPN-UML cadres of assaulting some of their members, sparking wider protests and unrest.
